About this site
DeductionHub is a set of free calculators and plain-English guides for the federal deductions created by the 2025 U.S. tax law (the One Big Beautiful Bill Act): the tips deduction, the overtime deduction, the enhanced deduction for seniors, the raised SALT cap, and the new federal child savings accounts. Most tools on the web calculate one of these in isolation; this site estimates them together and shows every step of the math.
Calculation methodology
Each calculator implements the line-by-line steps of the official IRS worksheet — Schedule 1-A (Form 1040) for the tips, overtime, and senior deductions, and the amended Internal Revenue Code §164(b)(6) rules for SALT. The "How we calculated this" panel on every result card shows those exact steps with your numbers; the line count matches the real calculation, nothing is hidden. Amounts are computed in integer cents to avoid floating-point rounding errors, with rounding applied once per step in the same direction the IRS worksheet specifies (for example, the tips and overtime phase-out rounds excess income down to whole thousands).
Data sources
Every limit, threshold, and rate on this site lives in a versioned dataset — not in the page text — and each entry records the IRS source URL and the date we verified it. We use primary sources only: IRS forms and instructions, IRS newsroom releases, and the statute itself. Where the IRS has not yet published an official figure (for example, some 2026 SALT amounts), the number is flagged as statute-derived on the page until the IRS confirms it. We do not copy numbers from other calculator sites or blogs.
Update policy
The dataset is reviewed and updated when the IRS publishes annual inflation adjustments (typically each fall) and whenever guidance changes a figure we display. Every calculator footer shows the tax year and the dataset's last-updated date — currently tax year 2026, updated Jul 28, 2026. Guides show their own published and updated dates.
Privacy by design
Everything you type stays in your browser. The calculators run entirely on your device — no figures are sent to a server, stored, or shared. See the privacy policy for details.
Who runs this site
DeductionHub is an independent site built and maintained by one person. Every figure on it is taken from IRS primary sources and checked against the published forms and instructions before it goes live — the verification date sits at the top of each calculator so you can judge how current it is. This is not a CPA firm and this site is not tax advice — see the disclaimer. For corrections or questions, use the contact page — a reported calculation error is the highest-priority fix here.
DeductionHub has been publishing since July 2026. The site is funded by display advertising; advertisers have no influence over which figures appear or how they are calculated.
